General Summary:

  • Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, per-operative and post-operative procedures, and assists in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures.
  • Provide patient and family with pre-operative education, answer questions regarding surgery, recovery and risk factor modification.
  • Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
  • Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges.
  • First assisting in cardiovascular surgery, vein and radial artery harvesting, first assisting with CABG, valve, aortic and thoracic surgery.
  • Ability to perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic.
  • Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow-up.
  • Management of patients both pre- and post-implantation for Ventricular Assist Devices and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
  • Management of patients undergoing Trans Catheter Valve Procedures.

Schedule Details:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Weeknight on call responsibilities with rotating weekend coverage

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in physician assistant studies or APRN

Physician Assistant, Surgical: Pediatrics
Orlando, FL

Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Physician Assistant, Surgical: Pediatrics

We are seeking a Certified Physician Assistant, PA-C to join a growing program and practice. The role involves direct care for infants, children, teenagers, and adults with congenital heart disease. The PA-C would work in outpatient and inpatient settings. Also, he/she will assist in the OR during surgery. The position involves collaboration between pediatric cardiology teams, neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, and inpatient cardiology. All services would be under the supervision of the heart surgeons.

Our practice is led by world renown congenital heart surgeons at the Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth Orlando.

Experience in Congenital Heart Surgery is not required however, surgical experience outside of PA training will be required. Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 10 bed Cardiac ICU, 102 NICU beds at FHFC, with an extensive network of four other Level II NICU’s that bring our total number of NICU beds to over 150, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open-heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program. Our unparalleled network consists of 26 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.

General Summary:

The PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s), who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs patient histories and physical exams of pediatric and adult congenital heart patients in the office and hospital setting
  • Handles daily patient rounds within the Pediatric Cardiac ICU, patient education and discharge summaries
  • First assisting in the OR, bedside procedures, ventilator management
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Assist Physician with hospital/Lab procedures as needed
  • Assist patient and family with pre- and post-procedural education
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth
  • Research and database maintenance

Schedule Details:

  • Monday-Friday; 8:00-5:00
  • Call required; includes hospital rounding and overnight phone coverage

Location: Orlando, FL - Specialty: Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent

AdventHealth for Children is seeking a dynamic and energetic Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team based at the Walt Disney Pavilion in Orlando, Florida.  The new physician would support our outpatient clinic and inpatient consults to extend our program in our Central Florida division.  This position is in addition to our current team of pediatric psychiatrists, nurse practitioner, clinical psychologist, mental health counselors and social workers, RN and care navigators.  This is primarily an outpatient opportunity, supporting inpatient consults with a focus on clinical care.  Our dedicated space is just north of our Children’s Hospital campus near downtown Orlando.   

AdventHealth Medical Group has robust programs for pediatric and adolescent psychiatry, autism evaluations, neuropsychology, complex care, pediatric residency, and many more to include a full team of over 200 subspecialists at AdventHealth for Children.  We have a network of 30 hospitals in the state with an extensive outreach system as well.  This includes multiple outpatient locations with a multidisciplinary presence.   We deliver approximately 23,000 babies per year throughout our system.

AdventHealth Family Medicine Residency at East Orlando, Florida is hiring a PhD level behaviorist to join our faculty to educate and empower the next generation of family physicians. The behavioral medicine faculty is an essential member of our team and a faculty colleague. The position itself will be 60-70% clinical and 30-40% administrative. The clinical time will be a mix of precepting residents and individually rendered patient clinical care. The ideal candidate would have some level of both clinical experience as well as educational experience working with residents. We welcome interests in lifestyle medicine, addiction medicine and diversity training.  Opportunities for faculty development abound with the support of a seasoned Program Director.

This well-established ACGME Accredited Family Medicine Residency with Osteopathic Recognition is based at AdventHealth East Orlando, a 295 bed facility that is part of one of the largest healthcare systems in the country. The Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency at AdventHealth East Orlando, which has been training residents for over 30 years, is among the most progressive training programs in the osteopathic profession. The foundation for our family medicine residency is derived from the dedication of our faculty, continuity family medicine and pediatric clinics, didactic programs and innovative technology. We teach twenty four residents each academic year, ONMM3 residents, and osteopathic medical students. Partnering with our board-certified interventional pulmonologist, the physician will work and collaborate with our experienced and established general pulmonologists, advanced lung disease specialists, and thoracic surgeons to help continue to grow and expand a high quality and large scale Interventional Pulmonology program throughout the AdventHealth System in Central Florida. AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is looking for a dynamic and energetic transplant pulmonologist to join our busy thoracic transplant program.  The physician will work with our current group and established cardiology and pulmonology transplant medical and surgical teams to help continue to grow a high quality and highly sustainable lung transplant program.  We have a full comprehensive Transplant Institute that includes both thoracic and abdominal transplant teams.  Our team performs over 60 hearts, 20 lungs, and 30-50 VAD’s per year with multi organ transplant capability. 

The AdventHealth Transplant Institute is located at AdventHealth Orlando, Florida just outside downtown Orlando close to the charming Winter Park community.  AdventHealth Orlando just opened (in September 2020) a state of-the-art 32 bed advanced cardiac critical care unit dedicated to the cardio thoracic transplant service.  AdventHealth has a hospital-based organ procurement organization (our legacy is a top performing OPO in the United States).

Location: Sebring, FL - Specialty: Radiation Oncology

AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) is looking for a dynamic and energetic Radiation Oncologist to join the team and practice at AdventHealth Sebring, located approximately 90 minutes south of Orlando and a short drive to some of the state’s most beautiful beaches.  Our group of over 20 radiation oncologists provides services among many of the AdventHealth sites throughout the Central Florida area.. This position is for full-time coverage at AdventHealth Sebring and would encompass a broad spectrum of oncology cases and patients.  Our hospital recently proved its dedication to oncology care by adding a TrueBeam radiotherapy system to one of its two vaults in 2022.

Our group is focused on providing superior clinical quality and high patient satisfaction.  The physicians utilize technology and innovation to further clinical research and work collaboratively with the medical staff and radiation staff. There is also additional support from our AdventHealth Cancer Institute and our physician leadership for clinical sub-specialization by tumor site and participation in a multi-disciplinary care model.
