Essential Functions:

The APRN or PA, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

• Performing health assessments on GI Patients including history and physical examination in the hospital setting - New patient consults, follow ups, pre/post procedural follow up, patient education - Primarily in AdventHealth Orlando Campus.

• Performs diagnostic procedures according to privileges and maintains log.

• Manage patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system, liver functions and esophagus including but not limited to: Barrett’s Esophagus, Colorectal Cancer Screening, Colonoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, GERD, IDB, Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, Liver Disease/Failure, Upper GI Disorders, GI Bleeds

• Orders, interprets and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.

• Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings.

• Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.

• Orders pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.

• Provides ongoing patient/family and staff education.

Full-time inpatient and outpatient opportunity located at AdventHealth Winter Park

AdventHealth Medical Group General Surgery at Winter Park is looking for a advanced practitioner registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our growing general surgery team in the Winter Park area. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with multiple physicians and APP’s in an inpatient and outpatient setting. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a good surgical foundation as well as first assist experience.

General Summary:

The PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

• Patient management and surgical first assist will include the following but not limited to: Skin biopsies, I&D, Catheter removals, Complex Wound Care, Hernia Surgery, Abdominal Wall procedures, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, and Lumps & Bumps

• Performs patient histories and physical exams in the office and hospital setting: new patients, follow ups, pre/post operatively

• Handles daily patient rounds, patient education and discharge summaries

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:

• Orders, interprets, and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies, and lab values into the plan of care; evaluates effectiveness.

• Diabetes management education, high blood pressure education, and pre-pregnancy planning when not on call.

• Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.

• Daily rounds on new and established patients.

• Responsible for in-person and virtual patient visits.

• Plans and provides care within the framework of policies, unit guidelines and privileges.

• For inpatient assignment, assists the attending physician in the care and management of patients on inpatient units within the hospital.

• This includes making patient rounds, contributing to the decisions for daily care, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and facilitating and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures.

• Will make frequent bedside visits to assess the status of patients and direct care accordingly.
