Job Description

For more than a decade the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando has provided treatment and successful therapy for a variety of blood-related cancers and diseases. Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando has treated more than 500 blood and marrow transplants. As Central Florida’s first comprehensive bone marrow transplant center, Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando is certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for meeting stringent volume and standard of care requirements. Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy at Orlando is also a member of the National Marrow Donor Program.

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of illnesses related to hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant; fundamental internal medicine as it pertains to the patients’ hematologic malignancy, i.e. diabetes mellitus, hypertension.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, x-ray, etc.
  • Position entails managing/monitoring patients in the clinic, infusion center, and hospital settings.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public; Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including call rotation, nights, weekends.
  • Rounding required during the day and on weekends when on call.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced clinic with highly acute patients, APP will also be required to participate in inpatient rounding at AdventHealth Orlando.
  • Ability to complete bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies in both inpatient and outpatient settings, lumbar punctures, and IT Chemo (training will be provided).
  • DEA licensure to be obtained upon completion of orientation for prescribing of controlled substances as allowed per laws.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
  • Experience as an APRN or PA-C in Hematology/Oncology (highly preferred)
  • Oncology nursing experience (highly preferred)

Required Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license
  • ANCC, AANP, NCCPA (or equivalent) certification

General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of hematology and oncology patients primarily in the outpatient setting at our Orlando Location.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Schedule Details:

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Campuses Covered: AdventHealth Orlando, East Orlando, and Altamonte Springs-primary; Winter Park, Apopka, Winter Garden (secondary)
  • Call required – 2 weekend days a month; includes rounding and overnight
  • Rotating weeknight and holiday call

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills are a must
  • Strong clinical background with an emphasis on oncology related conditions
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed by the practice as night and weekend on-call responsibilities may be required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated LCSW or LMHC to join our growing behavioral health program. This provider will provide therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support to clients with diverse backgrounds facing a wide range of mental health challenges. The LMHC or LCSW is responsible for:

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate clients’ mental health needs
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups using evidence-based therapeutic modalities
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (primary care, psychiatrist, other team members) to ensure coordinated care and treatment continuity
  • Advocate for clients’ rights and access to resources, facilitating referrals to community sources and support services as needed

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of Physicians is responsible for:

  • The APP is responsible for providing care for NICU and newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice.
  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines and chest tube placement, and circumcisions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, other specialists and among NICU team members.
  • Providing education and support to patients’ families
  • Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a supervising physician

Schedule Details:

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Opportunity available in Altamonte, FL. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal Nurse Practitioners to work in our Level II NICU and newborn nursery. The neonatal nurse practitioner in collaboration with the neonatology will cover the 10-bed level 2 NICU and newborn nursery service at Altamonte.

General Summary:

  • The NNP is responsible for providing care for NICU and Newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist
  • Communicate with parents, other specialists and among NICU team
  • Monitoring specialized equipment, including incubators and ventilators
  • Providing education and support to patients’ families regarding neonatal, intensive and, postpartum care
  • Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a physician
  • Performing diagnostic tests and other procedures, such as intubation and blood draws
  • Ensuring proper feeding and basic care

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner opportunity available in the Orlando, Florida area. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal APRN to work in our 102 single room NICU at AdventHealth Orlando.

We have several Neonatologists and NNPs/PAs during daytime and have an in-house Neonatologist and two NNPs/PAs at night. This busy NICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to sick neonates. We have a variety of sub-specialists support e.g. Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Radiology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery etc. Our team is well supported by dedicated respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and case managers. Our campus also has a Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Cardiac ICU.

Our NICU features leading edge technologies, including nitric oxide therapy, hypothermia management, neonatal surgeries etc. We have an active Neonatal transport team with ability to use inhaled Nitric Oxide and therapeutic hypothermia during transport.

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to join our Neonatal team.

  • The NNP is responsible for providing care for NICU patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants to join our Neonatal team 

  • The APRN/PA is responsible for providing care for NICU patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice 
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist

  • This position consists of a combination day, night, and weekend shifts

Required Education: 

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with Neonatology focus, or Master’s Degree in physician assistant studies with a focus in Neonatology

Required Licensure and Certifications: 

  • Must hold a valid Florida APRN License with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification or Physician Assistant license (Or ability to obtain a Florida License)
