General Summary:

The APRN or PA-C, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner(s), is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patient’s evaluation and treatment of hematology and oncology patients primarily in the outpatient setting at our East Orlando Location.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician supervisor and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

Schedule Details:

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Campuses Covered: AdventHealth East Orlando, Orlando, and Altamonte Springs-primary; Winter Park, Apopka, Winter Garden (secondary)
  • Call required – 2 weekend days a month; includes rounding and overnight
  • Rotating weeknight and holiday call

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills are a must
  • Strong clinical background with an emphasis on oncology related conditions
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours as needed by the practice as night and weekend on-call responsibilities may be required

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Studies
  • 1-2 years of experience as APRN or PA-C in Hematology/Oncology practice preferred

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license

Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal
Altamonte Springs, FL

Location: Altamonte Springs, FL - Specialty: Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Opportunity available in Altamonte, FL. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal Nurse Practitioners to work in our Level II NICU. The neonatal nurse practitioner in collaboration with the neonatology will cover the 10 bed level 2 NICU at Altamonte.

General Summary:

  • The NNP is responsible for providing care for NICU and Newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist
  • Communicate with parents, other specialists and among NICU team
  • Monitoring specialized equipment, including incubators and ventilators
  • Providing education and support to patients’ families regarding neonatal, intensive and, postpartum care
  • Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a physician
  • Performing diagnostic tests and other procedures, such as intubation and blood draws
  • Ensuring proper feeding and basic care

Schedule Details:

  • 16-hour night shifts

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with Neonatal Certification (required)

Part-Time Opportunity for a Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Opportunity available in the Orlando, Florida area. AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking dynamic and energetic Neonatal APRN or Physician assistant to work in our 102 single room level 4 NICU.

We have several Neonatologists and NNPs/PAs during daytime and have an in-house Neonatologist and two NNPs/PAs at night. This busy NICU provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to sick neonates. We have a variety of sub-specialists support e.g. Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Radiology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery etc. Our team is well supported by dedicated respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, social workers and case managers. Our campus also has a Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Cardiac ICU.

Our NICU features leading edge technologies, including nitric oxide therapy, hypothermia management, neonatal surgeries etc. We have an designated Neonatal transport team with ability to use inhaled Nitric Oxide and therapeutic hypothermia during transport.

We are seeking Neonatal Advanced Practice Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants to join our Neonatal team 

  • The APRN/PA is responsible for providing care for NICU patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice 
  • Evaluate patients, perform procedures, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist 
  • Communicate with parents, other specialists and among NICU team 
  • This position consists of a combination day, night, and weekend shifts

Required Education: 

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with Neonatology Certification, or Master’s Degree in physician assistant studies with Neonatology Certification

Required Licensure and Certifications: 

  • Must hold a valid Florida APRN License of Physician Assistant License with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification Or ability to obtain a Florida License) 
  • Certification through NCC (or eligible)

  • Perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines and chest tube placement, and circumcisions.

Schedule Details:

  • 24 hour unrestricted shifts – 7 days on and 7 days off

AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth Medical Group are looking for dynamic, innovative and energetic neonatal nurse practitioners at the Level 2 NICU at Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) in Melbourne, Florida. The neonatal nurse practitioner in collaboration with the neonatologist will cover the 10 bed Level 2 NICU at HRMC along with the newborn service.

General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of Physicians is responsible for:

  • The NNP is responsible for providing care for NICU and Newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice.
  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines and chest tube placement, and circumcisions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, other specialists and among NICU team members.
  • Providing education and support to patients’ families.

The City of Melbourne is located in southern Brevard County, southeast of Orlando on Florida’s east coast. General Summary:

The APP, under the supervision of Physicians, is responsible for:

  • Performs physical examinations of patients, assessment and treatment of injuries or illnesses for pediatric patients.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Independent and collaborative medical management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Collaborates with providers and staff, as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
  • Combination of outpatient in person visits as well as virtual visits.
  • Displays a caring and professional attitude at all times as well as maintaining personal and professional growth.

Schedule Details:

  • Primary Schedule: Tuesday 8am-5pm; Friday 8am-4pm; potential for Saturday morning and additional coverage

Clinical Responsibility

  • Performs admissions, consultations, and daily care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU setting.
  • Perform procedures including central venous lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and endotracheal intubation.
  • Managing medical and post-operative ICU patients
  • Conditions treated: Respiratory Disease, Liver Failure/ Transplants, Multi-system organ failure, Uncontrolled/ New Onset Diabetes, Neuro-surgery patients and varying level of acuity and medical conditions. ECMO (preferred). No post operative cardiac care
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre and post-operative care, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff

  • 13 shifts a month – 13-hour clinical shifts (169 hours per month) Both day and night call

Knowledge, Education and Experience Required:

  • Conditions treated: Congenital Heart Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Epilepsy, Complex Medical, Liver Transplant.
  • Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre- and post-operative care, etc.
  • Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
  • Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
  • Candidate must be able to successfully pass a third-party background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Enthusiastic team player, team currently consists of 5 PCICU physicians, and 4 other APP’s.
  • Group sees over 200 heart cases annually.
  • Ability to work as needed for days, nights and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to perform procedures: lines, intubations, etc (highly preferred).

Education and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies
  • Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – preferred
  • 1-3 years in experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA-C in an ICU, acute care or ER setting
  • Cardiac ICU experience as an APRN or PA-C (Highly Preferred)
  • Experience with ECMO (Highly Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure)
